ART BY WATERMAN
OUR EYES DON'T SEE. Light just flows through, and our brains draw
pictures for us by decoding that light. But our brains leave out the
details if they think we won't care. UNLESS we look, focus, and ASK
our brains to show us more.
I always saw whispers of color in my closed eyes, but only when I learned
to focus on them did they take on the vibrance and clarity of real images...
images I could copy onto canvas. So maybe at first my paintings look
like abstract expressionism, or maybe they just seem like random designs.
But really I paint what I'm seeing, and my hope is that if you take
a moment to look, focus, and ask your brain to show you the details, you'll
see something beautiful in there too.
APITO MEANS ENDLESS, and it was the hue of the infinite sea that inspired Apito Blue. My connection to the ocean also provided the name I use to sign my work... and "Wasserman" means Water Man anyway, so it was an irresistable gift of fate.
